Position Summary:

The Maintenance Engineer position requires troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment issues and managing maintenance activities. The person in the position will also troubleshoot, program, design, and maintain PLC systems.  In addition, the position requires the development and maintenance of programs including preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, calibration records, and safe work procedures in line with Kuraray's values.  

 

Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities for the Maintenance Engineer include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Work safely by following all KAI policies, procedures, and Leadership expectations.
  • Create, implement, and manage a preventive maintenance and reliability program in accordance with Kuraray America guidelines
  • Plan, schedule, lead, and coordinate maintenance activities
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment
  • Troubleshoot PLCs
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot instrumentation, as well as ensure accuracy
  • Supervise and manage third party maintenance contractors
  • Implement small projects
  • Identify necessary spare parts and manage the stock thereof

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical or related engineering field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding and familiarity with PLCs (i.e. familiarity with ladder logic, able to troubleshoot with the ladder logic)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot problems  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience on extrusion systems either in a process or maintenance position.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing methods (e.g. 5s, Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPM)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Value teamwork. Ability to get along with all groups of people to drive results
  • Ability to understand and explain complex problems and solutions
  • Previous experience working in a start-up environment
